Tēnā koutou Tātau Tātau o te Wairoa whānau

You’re invited to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 2pm Saturday 26 November.

It’s taking place at Taihoa Marae, 172 State Highway 2, Wairoa.

It is important that as many people as possible can attend, so we can hear your kōrero and get your votes on resolutions that will guide parts of the year ahead.

What to expect

  • Hear from our Chairperson and our General Manager:

It's been a fruitful year, with many of our strategic projects evolving. An 18-hectare orchard has been established with our partners, our cornerstone residential development has been approved, and we have purchased 100 hectares of whenua at Waihirere/Whakapau. Kaupapa to protect Wai Māori are underway too. Unfortunately, like many, we were not isolated from the impacts of the global economic downturn – but our commercial arm has made some key investments to ensure we generate good annual returns from now into the future.

  • Learn more about Whitiwhiti Ora:

The Whitiwhiti Ora project is a partnership that has local benefits to Wairoa, as it studies the impact of sediment on mahinga kai and other cultural values in the awa. Our local researchers have developed a framework and interviewed whānau to understand the current state. The blend of mātauranga and western science has provided valuable insights into the importance of working in partnership as we move to reduce sedimentation and improve the health of our awa.

  • Find out about Te Rauā:

Our cornerstone residential development is the first in a series we hope to build on urban and rural Māori land. Our vision is to create a safe and affordable living environment for a wide range of whānau and kaumātua households, promoting intergenerational wellbeing and whānau ora. At the heart of the development is an innovative solution, Tokotoko, that allows pakeke to live well in our community and stay connected to their loved ones.

Find out more about our mahi in our Annual Report online.

See you this Saturday, 2pm, at Taihoa Marae!

Ngā mihi,
Tātau Tātau o te Wairoa Trust
