New Local Housing Director Appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Denise Eaglesome-Karekare as the local Director of the Tātau Tātau Housing Limited Partnership (LP).  

The Housing Board is now complete with three Directors; Denise Eaglesome-Karekare, Jason Rogers, and Waylyn Tahuri-Whaipakanga as Chair.

Denise is one of eight siblings and was strongly influenced by her mother Ramona who raised the family on her own. Proud of where she comes from and fortunate to be grounded in knowing who she is and her whakapapa, she is a passionate advocate for Wairoa.

Denise and her husband Mike have one son, Hugh, and a whāngai daughter Gabby.
 
Denise has lived her entire life in Wairoa and has never felt the need to leave. Her love and commitment to Wairoa is reflected in her now sixth term as a Wairoa District Councillor. She has been the Manager of the Wairoa Young Achievers Trust for the last five years and has been involved with the Trust since 2004. Most recently she was appointed CEO of the Trust.
 
Denise holds several other roles in Wairoa including, Chair of Te Wairoa Tapokorau Whānui Trust, BOT (Board of Trustee) member of Wairoa College, the CACTUS programme coordinator a Nationally recognised programme; she is the Chair of the Economic Development Committee for Council and a member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.

Denise is a Governance member for WYAT on the Community Partnerships Group, a member of the Hawke's Bay Regional Skills Leadership group who advocate for skills and training for the Hawke's Bay region and importantly as a voice for Wairoa. Denise is excited about being part of the Housing arm of the TToTW Commercial Board which aligns with her passion for housing for whānau and hapū. She is a part of the local housing group Toitū He Kainga along with local NGOs, Iwi, and Wairoa District Council.

Denise brings a myriad of skills to the role to contribute effectively to the strategic direction of the Housing arm of TToTW. There is also a strategic alignment with her other roles in Wairoa, specifically in the development of the workforce needed to contribute to the housing development.
